Irish rock legends U2 are back with a snappy new single, “Silencio”, taken from their next album Carnaval De Luz. The record will be released November 13 on Interscope. The band is also celebrating a 50-year milestone.

Jacknife Lee produces the record, with Ryan Tedder adding more production here. So the team behind this one’s loaded.

It’s a short race, 2 minutes and 35 seconds long. Larry Mullen Jr. drives it along with a busy backbeat so nothing lags

Bono sounds restless, a little uneasy on the mic. He sings of hearing a gunshot yet keeps his voice full of excitement.

Bono struggles with religion nowadays and the lyrics rely heavily on religious imagery. Meanwhile, the music is filled with The Edge’s trademark guitar parts.

Overall it sounds like U2 nearing the end with a bit of teeth. It’s fast. It’s loud. It keeps you on edge.
