After the release of “Love Letter (Edamwen),” which brought his Benin-rooted songwriting to a larger audience, Nigerian artist Hammerboi has returned with a 2024 single, “Love Letter (Acoustic Version).” ”.
The first one came a month ago and is about love, dedication, and commitment, and Hammerboi expresses those notions partly through the Bini language. The acoustic rendition retains the same love writing but sets it in a more subdued environment.
Ageless is credited as producer, and the stripped-back arrangement puts more focus on Hammerboi’s vocals, melody, and phrasing instead of recreating the song around a totally different musical approach.
The alternate version came after increasing interest in the original, which gained early popularity on TikTok, helping to establish Hammerboi beyond Benin City. Reimagining the song in an acoustic format also provided fans with yet another option to connect with a record that was a significant step in his evolution from producer to recording artist.
