Nigerian disk jockey DJ 808 joins forces with the fast-rising street rapper Mavo for a hard-hitting, rhythm-filled party single entitled “Shenk Me”.
This album comes at the appropriate time as Afrobeats enthusiasts and nightclub partygoers are looking for infectious bangers that encapsulate the drama of modern relationships with a danceable bounce. DJ 808 takes his place behind the decks and crafts a bombastic musical platform, and Mavo brings his distinctive streetwise attitude.
A hammering kick drum, snappy percussion shakers, and rolling basslines make up the joyful mid-tempo soundscape crafted by the sound architect. Bright synthesizer chords, meanwhile, slide effortlessly under the upbeat tempo to keep things moving along steadily without crowding the arrangement.
Mavo takes the mic, and with his signature energy and snappy Pidgin cadences, he starts to take over. His street storytelling about surprising heartbreak and getting spurned is sympathetic, drawing listeners directly into the groove.
