South African traditional Maskandi outfits and expressive storytellers Amabongwa serve up a deeply rooted, culturally rich record, “Izinto zami.”
“Izinto zami” is very lyrical in terms of minding your own business, keeping your personal journey safe from bad intentions and envy, holding onto your integrity, and standing tall through the constant trials of life. They use moving proverbs and familiar Zulu storytelling to transform personal boundaries and resilience into a universal comfort anthem for dreamers and lovers of traditional music across generations.
Everything on this release connects seamlessly for a full listening experience, which is deeply satisfying. The rich, acoustic-led production keeps pace with their expressive vocal energy every step of the way through the whole runtime.
