Canadian megastar Drake is causing a splash with “Fomo,” a self-funded “not-so-short film,” not a standard single or album.

Drake originally teased the initiative last month, posting old family photos marked “FOMO 2026” before following up with a picture of a CD case that read “Fear Of Missing Out.” So “Drake Fomo” isn’t your usual rollout. It’s intentionally constructed on uncertainty, and honestly that’s kind of his defining move at this point. Fans speculated for weeks whether it was an album, a tour announcement or something else altogether.

Well it isn’t. Drake described the project as a story about “making the absolute most of it all in one summer” that will debut on YouTube and other platforms. He also compared it to his breakout 2009 song, “Best I Ever Had,” linking the emotional gravity of that early triumph to whatever this new visual piece is.

This comes just months after Drake released three entire albums at once, “Iceman,” “Maid Of Honor” and “Habibti” in May. That’s a rather rare output pace even for someone as productive as him. Fitting in a self-funded film project so soon after a triple album release does say something about where his creative energy is at the moment.

For longstanding fans who know Drake’s career-long tendency to blur the lines between music and visual storytelling, “Fomo” will sound more of the same, except shrouded in even more mystery than normal.
