Jobe London – Lacadoli & Friends Vol 2. (Album)

South African Amapiano heavyweight and groove innovator Jobe London makes his return to the electronic scene with a vast collaborative studio project, “Lacadoli & Friends Vol 2.”

This much awaited body of work comes at the opportune time, as dancefloor fans, tavern goers and Amapiano aficionados, want thorough rhythm rich mixes that blend genuine township street bounce with rich musicianship. Jobe London is known for his powerful voice, captivating dance anthems and undeniable ability to bring together creative sonic brains within the Mzansi music environment. He uses this second volume to broaden his creative community. With a lively lineup of producers, singers and instrumentalists, this project is a communal celebration of artistry to fill automobile sound systems, weekend street parties and festival fields from start to finish.

The production architecture throughout the project is painstakingly constructed, mixing mid-tempo bounce with subterranean deep weight. Spacious compositions based on hammering kick drums, crisp metallic percussion shakers and relentless, speaker-rattling log drum sequences, are laid down by the beatmakers. Supporting the groove are warm electric keyboard progressions, bright jazz-tinged chords and airy atmospheric synth melodies, which provide the tracklist an irresistible head-nodding swing without cluttering up the vocalists. Meanwhile, the exquisite sound engineering leaves adequate headroom across the mix, ensuring that every raspy accent, rhythmic clap and delicate low-end filter sweep smashes through the speakers with stunning clarity.

Jobe London headlines with a seasoned charisma, razor-sharp vocal timing and seamless street authority. He floats through changing tempos with ease, slipping between enticing call-and-response hooks, humorous cadences and high-energy township shouts. From the very beginning, his captivating delivery sets a happy, joyful mood, an inviting tone that pulls the listener right into the pocket of each groove.

Throughout the compilation guest contributors and featured pals help to raise the momentum across all cylinders, trading smooth melodic refrains, gritty vernacular bars and passionate ad-libs that inject fresh color into every chapter of the album. The lyrical and thematic focus of “Lacadoli & Friends Vol 2” is very much about township lifestyle, street friendship, the fruits of hard hustle, late-night revelry and the release of daily pressure via dance. Jobe London and his crew take a whole bunch of creative techniques and blend them into one cohesive vision, turning a full studio marathon into vital soundtracking for party lovers and dreamers everyplace.

The whole collection hangs together beautifully, to make a comprehensive and soul-satisfying listen. The snappy, bass-driven music keeps pace, step after step, with the collective vocal energy throughout the whole runtime.
