Fast-rising Tanzanian rapper Nyabingi Daicon Unique joins Bongo Flava heavyweight Rayvanny for “Mbeya,” an anthem for the Green City and his birthplace.
Nyabingi shot to the top with raw freestyle bars and witty punchlines, going viral with his statement “Sio tu kukinukisha, hata mimi nanuka.” That underground Hip Hop intensity flows right into “Mbeya” as he mentions several parts of the city while giving a nod to the streets and culture with snappy, hard hitting delivery.
Rayvanny is a serious weight on the record. Both musicians are from Mbeya and Rayvanny, who grew up in Nzovwe, remains the region’s most successful Bongo Flava export ever. His knowledge and melodic touch also complemented Nyabingi’s rawer lyrical approach, giving “Mbeya” a two-generation feel rather than a traditional guest verse.
The production is a mixture of Bongo Flava melody with quick rapping to keep the energy flowing through.
