“Met You” is a love Afropop single released on 20 October 2026 by American singer Taylor Jasmine and Nigerian performer Carterefe. The trip from America to Nigeria inspired the song.
Taylor Jasmine, also known as Cravetay, uses her experience with Carterefe to tell the story of how a chance meeting grew into something special. The song is about discovering love in unexpected places, and the two singers share a connection that goes beyond their artistic relationship.
The track explores modern Afropop while embracing the R&B elements that are part of Jasmine’s musical upbringing. The track is accompanied by an official music video that also shows their real-life connection through music, helping listeners understand the inspiration behind the lyrics better.
Interestingly, the record debuted at number 71 on Nigeria’s Apple Music Top 100 immediately after its release, showing promising early interest in the track. The partnership is a new venture for Jasmine, whose career includes multiple independent productions and a stint on The Pop Game, introducing her songwriting to a wider Nigerian audience.
