Nigerian artiste Promphizy releases a double single titled “Lagos Story”, he is one half of that release, together with “IG Girls”.
The album is produced by ILL-KONNECT and mixed by Bobberry Mix. It’s got a personal approach rather than following a trend. Promphizy has called it something based on real experience with Lagos, not just the backdrop but the subject of the story. This method lends “Lagos Story” a distinct heft compared to other Afrobeats recordings that drop the city name in passing.
Promphizy is also an artist who sold out his “Loyal 2 D Street” concert in Jos, with over 4,000 people in attendance, showing that he has a fanbase that connects with his storytelling. But “Lagos Story” feels like him moving beyond that dedicated street audience to something broader.
“IG Girls” is a double drop, providing fans with two moods in one sitting. So there is something here no matter which way you are facing today.
