“Deja Vu” is a soulful collab between Ghanaian rap heavyweight Sarkodie and Afropop singer KiDi, released on October 16, 2026. Produced by Ozedikus, the record is a fusion of hiplife, hip-hop, and smooth Afrobeats, exploring themes of romantic regret, accountability and the fear of repeating mistakes in a difficult relationship.
On the tune, Sarkodie recalls a prior relationship, speaking to his beloved Ama as he admits his mistakes and pleads for forgiveness. His Twi and English raps bear the weight of the song’s confession, while KiDi adds his melodious vocals to bolster its plea for reconciliation.
The duet plays on the distinct qualities of the two Ghanaian performers, bringing together Sarkodie’s intricate rap delivery and KiDi’s silky singing. Instead of only telling the story of heartbreak as a story of separation, “Deja Vu” focuses on the hard choice of whether to fix a relationship or risk relapsing into the same harmful behaviors.
It is also the first single from Sarkodie’s future project, the five-track Deja Vu EP, which is slated to be released on November 27, 2026. It’s an introduction to the project that blends contemplative songwriting with modern Ghanaian rhythms.
