Rwandan gospel duet Vestine and Dorcas release “Ibihe,” a highly spiritual album about trusting God through life’s various seasons. The Kinyarwanda title translates as “Times” or “Seasons,” and that concept goes through the whole song.
Vestine and Dorcas have made a name for themselves with music that inspires faith, optimism and endurance. And this one is continuing the same purpose, to send the message that hard times don’t stay forever.
It’s warm and worshipful throughout, with room to breathe for the message to land clearly. There’s nothing here that avoids the weight of what’s being expressed. This setup compliments the vocals instead than competing with them.
“Ibihe” works because Vestine and Dorcas are totally committed to that message of lasting faith. The hope is consistent from the first line to the last. It plays like a real reminder of how seasons change and hardships do too.
If you’re moved by gospel music rooted in faith and optimism, including “Ibihe” on your playlist.
