Godswill Oyor – Journey in Worship, Vol. 3 (Album)

Some worship albums are meant to be followed from the first minute to the last. One such album is Godswill Oyor’s Journey in Worship, Vol. 3, a sixteen-track production featuring Daniel Ojo.

The title tells you how to listen. A journey has a beginning, middle, and end, and the Vol. 3 tag signifies it comes after earlier chapters, which usually means people came back for more. The Nigerians know rhythm very well. A long prayer meeting begins gently, intensifies over hours, and ends with a last song when everyone is weary and thankful.

What is intriguing to me is how the track list follows that form. It starts with an intro, then moves into a promise in “I will bless you, oh Lord,” followed by repentance expressed in “a broken and contrite heart” and the two spoken parts of Psalm 51. The journey includes Heart Cry in two takes, the truthful warning of Pharisee, the hunger of Desperate for You, and the peaceful scene of This Is the Air I Breathe. Lord, I’m amazed Mercy is also in two cuts. Isaiah and the project close with the glory songs Ogo, Ogo (Extended), and Ogo/Hallelujah. It is a service from the first minute of silence until the last yell.

The extended versions that repeat deserve notice. I won’t discuss production elements I can’t verify, but the lengthier cut of the same song implies moments worth lingering in, the way a vigil allows a chorus to run until the room quiets. Daniel Ojo’s credit on every track speaks of one consistent cooperation from start to finish, like a worship leader and a co-leader sharing the same platform all night long.

There is also a bit of contrast. The initiative starts with repentance and ends in praise, which is how many testimonies really go. When a friend asks what Journey in Worship, Vol. 3 is like, you may find yourself trying to describe a whole evening of prayer in a few phrases.

Those who want worship that unfolds slowly, that allows for meditation, will find something familiar here. It fits all the night prayers, calm mornings, and long journeys when you have plenty of time.
