Nigerian gospel minister Chioma Jesus teams up with fellow Nigerian gospel singer Prinx Emmanuel on “Jesus is Life (JIL)”, a Christian music release focusing on the importance of Jesus Christ.
It is a collaboration between two separate generations of Nigerian gospel music musicians. Chioma Jesus has founded her ministry on indigenous praise and worship, and Prinx Emmanuel has made Christian messages accessible through contemporary Afro-gospel.
The relationship has a lot to do with their different musical backgrounds. Chioma Jesus is most renowned for her Igbo language music, whereas Prinx Emmanuel often utilizes Nigerian Pidgin and modern African music trends in his recordings.
For Chioma Jesus, the cooperation is another opportunity to engage with younger gospel fans while retaining her existing Christian following. Her long-established recognition through songs like “Bulldozer” and “Okemmuo” has laid the groundwork for this release.
