Cojo Rae, a Ghanaian highlife innovator, provides a sweet, soul-stirring bonus offering, “Ready To Be Mine (Bonus).”
This intimate CD comes at a time when West African Afro-fusion lovers are hungry for real love tracks that update classic palmwine rhythms with a youthful sensitivity. From his studio project Gen Z Highlife, the tune sees Cojo Rae come fully into his lover-boy element, stripping back dance tempos to put sheer emotional devotion in the spotlight.
Over this backdrop, the architect crafts a warm, mid-tempo highlife setting supported by gentle acoustic guitar strumming, lovely electric keys, and clean shakers. A steady drum kick rolls softly over a fluid bassline, keeping an engaging rhythm while leaving plenty of headroom throughout the mix.
Cojo Rae owns the music, with silken vocal phrasing and effortless pitch control, creating a captivating chorus about patience and lasting commitment.
